ECOLE POLYTECHNIQUE APPEAL 2014

CFUW’S LIVING MEMORIAL TO THE VICTIMS OF THE DECEMBER 6, 1989 MASSACRE AT ÉCOLE POLYTECHNIQUE, MONTREAL,  QUEBEC

Once again CFUW Clubs are raising funds to support the CFUW/FCFDU 1989 École Polytechnique Commemorative Award, an award established by CFUW in 1990 to honour the memory of the 14 women students who were gunned down at École Polytechnique on December 6, 1989.

We are asking for your  generosity again this year – to take up a collection at the February 3rd general meeting. (January meeting cancelled due to weather)

The École Polytechnique  Commemorative Award has been granted at $7,000 annually for several years, and in 2011, for the first time, CFUW was able to give two awards totaling $12,000 – one at $7,000 and one at $5,000. This award is considered one of the most prestigious offered by CFUW and the Fellowship Committee reports that the applications for it are numerous and of very high quality.

This annual collection of funds acts as a living memorial to the victims of the massacre and helps to ensure that the two awards will continue to be funded in the years ahead.
