Girl Guides - Dare to be Social Tea

CFUW Mississauga Issues Group Involvement

Picture
On Thursday, November 6 our book “Extraordinary Lives” was showcased at “Dare to Be”, an event organised by the First Mississauga Ranger Group.

The Guides, Rangers and leaders  were an enthusiastic and  responsive audience and it was a reminder of the power of girls working together.

Nancy Rabbat, Kathryn Wilkinson and Joan Barrett represented CFUW Mississauga and talked about the process of researching, writing and publishing the book.  It was also an opportunity to share with the young audience the scholarship program.

This is the one of the outcomes we had hoped for in publishing our book, that it would serve as an inspiration for other young women in our community to make a difference and to accomplish their goals.

The guest of honour was Lata Pada who is featured in the book.  She spoke eloquently about her own story and about her involvement in the Air India disaster and the subsequent government enquiry.
