Election Project

4/5/2015

Purpose: to encourage our political parties to answer questions of interest to our members, to help our members to ask researched questions, and to encourage all members to take an active part in the Election by voting.

Step One: collecting topics of interest starting with the Issues Group and supported by the membership.
Topics about which we would like our candidates to be prepared to speak:

Political Actions
  1. Revising the Fair Election Act.
  2. Restoring  adequate funding for scientific research, without political censorship.
  3. Supporting  funding for infrastructure for transportation, health and education.
  4. Restoring the long form census to provide accurate data upon which to make government decisions.
Actions related to welfare of the Canadian population
  1. Provide affordable accommodation for  all.
  2. Re-evaluate the RIFT payments process.
  3. Introduce universal, affordable  daycare.
  4. Support initiatives to stop abuse and violence against women and children.
Actions to support the Aboriginal population
  1. Support a National Enquiry into the lost and murdered Aboriginal women.
  2. Provide clean safe drinking water to all aboriginal reserves.
Actions to protect our green spaces, national parks
  1. Introduce national polices and support international initiatives to reduce greenhouse gasses.
  2. Protect our wilderness from pollution and stop destructive commercial use.
Step Two: Membership participation
The Issues Group welcomes suggestions of other topics about which you feel our politicians should have a position.

Please send your emails to our website at cfuwmississauga@cfuwmississauga.ca and look for updates in the near future.
