Memorial Luncheon for Ecole Polytechnique - Dec 5, 2014

On Saturday, Dec. 5, Carol Hare and Kathryn Wilkinson attended the memorial luncheon hosted by the Kitchener-Waterloo CFUW.  The guest speaker was Lee Miracle (last two pictures).  Lee is one of Canada's most prolific Aboriginal writers and is an award winning poet, novelist, performance storyteller, scriptwriter, actor and keeper/myth maker.  She has taught at the University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, Southern Oregon University and has served  as professor of Canadian culture at Western Washington University.   Lee was introduced by Gale Cyr, Elder in Residence at Wilfred Laurier University (picture 2).  As befits an occasion marking the 25 anniversary of the Ecole Polytechnique massacre, Lee spoke about 'Ending Violence' including her belief that there is a direct connection between violence against the earth and violence against women.
