CFUW donated a total of $6200 to the Charitable Trust. $6070 was donated in December and $130 earlier in the year. Our president Anne Fabierkiewicz presented our donation to Lynn Franklin, the project leader for the CFUW 100th Anniversary Scholarship Project. Here are some words from Lynn:
"I’m delighted to be here tonight to receive this donation to the CFUW Charitable Trust which has been designated to the 100th Anniversary Scholarship Project. CFUW has supported women’s studies since its founding in 1919 and it is a program of which we are very proud.
Your Club’s support of the Trust is long standing and has made a difference not only in the lives of post-graduate women students that have received the awards but you have been a leader within the federation. Last year when your Club funded an additional Alice E. Wilson Award your act of generosity was noted by another Ontario Club. They stepped forward and offered to fund an additional award as well and the first Linda Souter Humanities Award will be given out this year - one year ahead of schedule. Thank you for leading the way!
Also in 2012 – 2013 your Club funded the Creative Arts Award which allowed Anna Pidgorna, a composer and media arts student, to participate in a creative residency program at the Banff Centre. Anna has just entered a PhD program at Princeton. Congratulations for helping her on her way!"
