THE CFUW CREATIVE ARTS AWARD - 2017

 The CFUW Creative Arts Award was created to promote interest and involvement in the creative arts by engaging audiences and inspiring discussion.           
  1. Amount of the Award - the award is $4,000 and is set by the CFUW Charitable Trust budget.
  2. Frequency of the Award – biennial.  
  3. Eligibility to Apply - each submission received by the Library and Creative Arts Committee MUST be nominated by a CFUW Club local to the applicant.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  • Applicants may be from: academic institutions, community centres, cultural centres, youth organizations, or any community based                                organization/team/group                                                                                                                                                                                                     • The following is a list of areas considered for this award: drama, music, graphic arts, cartooning, performing arts, film, publishing, galleries,                   museums, visual arts, crafts, choreography, comedy, creative writing, dance, digital media, graphic design, film, photography
  4. Geographic Coverage – within Canada.  
  5. Criteria for Selection – the criteria for judging the award will be:                                                                                                                                            • The clarity and presentation of the application                                                                                                                                                                  • The nature of the proposed application, its originality and/or its benefits to the community and/or audience                                                                    • How the project relates to the present needs of the community                                                                                                                                        • How the funding will be used                                                                                                                                                                                              • Projects must be new initiatives and sustainable                                                                                                                                                         
  6. Selection of Winner - will be made by the CFUW Library and Creative Arts Committee and approved by the CFUW Board of Directors.    
  7. Deadline for Applications – is established by the CFUW Library and Creative Arts Committee and publicized on the CFUW website and through CFUW newsletters.

  9. Applications –should be sent to the Chair, Tracey Otto (see above) and copied to the Executive Director, Robin Jackson at cfuwed@rogers.com            a. The Library and Creative Arts Committee will welcome nominations from all CFUW clubs and members and make the selection from among                those nominated based on the established guidelines.                                                                                                                                                    b. Applications will be accepted from January 1st to March 1st 2017                                                                                                                                  c. The winner of the CFUW Creative Arts Award will be announced at the 2017 AGM in Richmond, BC.                                                                          d. The award will be presented in the 2016-2017 fiscal year and CFUW National will communicate this information to the membership as                        available.  
 
 Application Instructions: 
 The Project Leader should submit the completed application by March 1st 2017 
  1. Include the following information in the application:                                                                                                                                                                                        a. Name of organization, team, or group                                                                                                                                                                                                  b. Names and contact information of Project Leaders                                                                                                                                                                              c. Statement of intent or purpose – no more than 300 words                                                                                                                                                                  d. Brief background of the proposed project                                                                                                                                                                                            e. Clear outline or project brief of the intended project, including a detailed budget and a completion date                                                                                            f. Completed Nomination Form from supporting CFUW Club 
  2. All completed application packages should be sent to Tracey Otto, Chair, Library and Creative Arts Committee tracey.otto@gmail.com and copied to Robin Jackson, Executive Director, CFUW National cfuwed@rogers.com
